The opposition has written a letter to the Chairman of the Home whereby it has alleged that there was a protocol violation within the sitting association for the Rajya Sabha Leader of Opposition. The letter signed by a number of opposition members stated, “Today at the swearing-in ceremony of the hon’ble President, Shri Mallikarjun Kharge, LOP in the Rajya Sabha was made to sit in a seat not commensurate with the position he holds.”
“We are writing to express our shock and protest at this deliberate disrespect shown to ‘very senior leader violating the warrant of precedence and not in accordance with the protocol courtesy due to him,'” it stated.
Jairam Ramesh tweeted that the letter was signed by Trinamool too. Congress sources stated that Trinamool MP Sukhendu Shekhar Ray signed the letter.
Later, within the Rajya Sabha, when the Home assembled for the hearings, Kharge demanded dialogue underneath rule 267 on the worth rise. Opposition Members continued slogans and trooped within the effectively of the Home.
Leader of the Home and Union Minister Piyush Goyal stated the federal government was prepared for a dialogue on the problems.
