Chennai > Twelve fishermen from Tamil Nadu have been arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy. The fishermen from Nagapattinam have been arrested. It’s reported that the arrest was attributable to violation of the maritime boundary. Two days in the past, 23 fishermen have been arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy
The fishermen who left Akkarapetta fishing harbor on the night time of November 10 have been caught. They have been arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy on Monday night for allegedly violating the Sri Lankan maritime boundary. The Coastal Safety Group (CSG) mentioned they have been fishing about 40 nautical miles south-east of Kodiakara.
Fishermen R Selvanathan (40), R Vijayanathan (37), Okay Kushanthaivelu (57), R Bhagyaraj (43), S Anandavel (35), V Madhavan (18), M Iniyavan (30) and Okay Sadhan (26) , S Saravanan (41), G Subramanian (46), P Senthil (42) and P Arumukham (51) have been arrested. They have been taken to the Kankasanthurai Navy Camp in Jaffna.
