Two lakh patients crossed the second day; Shortage of oxygen, medicine and vaccine

Kovid suffocated country in the second wave. More than two lakh patients for the second day in a row. 2,17,353 patients, 1185 deaths in 24 hours. The total number of patients was 1.42 crore and the death toll was 1,74,308. Currently 15,69,743 people are undergoing treatment.

79% of new patients are in 10 states. The patients were from Maharashtra (61,695), Uttar Pradesh (22,339), Delhi (16,609), Chhattisgarh (15,256), Karnataka (14,738), Madhya Pradesh (10,166), Gujarat (8152) and Tamil Nadu (7987). Hospital beds were filled in major cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad and Lucknow. There is also a shortage of oxygen, medicine and vaccines. States in an effort to keep the health system from stagnating.

The Prime Minister convened a high-level meeting to assess the availability of oxygen in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan. Recommendations were made at the meeting to increase production in oxygen plants and use more oxygen in steel plants and so on.

The country’s covid mortality rate is likely to rise further, according to a study. The Covid report, prepared by the Lancet’s India Mission, a leading medical journal, warns that the death toll from the second wave will rise to 1,750 per day, to 2,320 in the first week of June.
