UP: Chief accused of Bulandshahr violence won panchayat elections, including Inspector Subodh, two lives

Yogesh Raj, the main accused in the Bulandshahr violence, has won the district panchayat election. Two people, including Police Inspector Subodh Kumar Singh, were killed in the violence in Bulandshahr in 2018. Former Bajrang Dal activist Yogesh Raj defeated Independent candidate Innocent Chaudhary by 2,150 votes.

Yogesh Raj was out on bail while contesting the election. Yogesh said about this that I have worked with many organizations before, but for some issues, such as the issue of farmers, pension for widows, etc. you have to enter politics. You cannot accomplish such things without becoming a politician. I contested from ward number 5 and I won by 2,150 votes.

Talking about the violence of 2018, Yogesh Raj said that two people had died in that incident, but he has not been named on the murder charge. Yogesh said that two people were killed in the violence and I express condolences to both those families, but I am only accused of instigating the mob and I am not an accused of murder.

Let me tell you that on 3 December 2018, the crowd was agitated after the body of an animal was found in a sugarcane field near Mahav village of Saina, Bulandshahr. Angry mob set fire to the Chingrawati police post. In the attack, Inspector Subodh Kumar Singh, posted at Siyana Police Station, also lost a young man Sumit Kumar. Chingravati, Mahav and Naibans were the epicenter of the violence.
