New Delhi / Kolkata: Expressing concern over the alleged beating of some women in Nandigram in West Bengal, the National Commission for Women on Tuesday asked the state police to take immediate action in the matter and arrest the culprits and investigate them in a time bound manner. According to the statement issued by the commission, a team led by Women Commission chairman Rekha Sharma will visit West Bengal soon to investigate the matter. The Women’s Commission said, “Several posts made on Twitter show that some goons beat up women after the elections in Nandigram. The Commission is concerned about this incident and has taken serious note of it as it raises questions about the safety of women in the state. The Commission said that Rekha Sharma wrote a letter to the Director General of Police of the state and said that the culprits should be arrested immediately after taking action in this matter and investigate in a time bound manner.
