India abstained from voting on a decision on the United Nations General Meeting (UNGA) demanding Israel to finish its unlawful presence within the occupied Palestinian territory inside a 12 months. India careworn that it’s a robust supporter of “dialogue and diplomacy” and efforts ought to be made to “build bridges” somewhat than “exacerbate divisions”.

On this regard, the 193-member General Meeting handed the decision on Wednesday, with 124 international locations voting in favour, 14 in opposition to and 43 international locations, together with India, abstaining. The decision titled 'Opinion of the Worldwide Courtroom of Justice on Israel's insurance policies and actions within the occupied Palestinian territory, together with East Jerusalem, and the authorized penalties arising from Israel's continued unlawful presence within the occupied Palestinian territory' was handed within the UNGA.

Nations that abstained from voting embody Australia, Canada, Germany, Italy, Nepal, Ukraine and Britain. Israel and the USA voted in opposition to the decision. Commenting on the vote on the decision, India's Everlasting Consultant to the United Nations, Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish, stated, “India abstained from today's vote. We have been a staunch supporter of dialogue and democracy. We believe there is no other way to resolve the conflict.”
