Young people may not be vaccinated in May; Serum Institute says it will be given only to the center

New Delhi: The Center has once again thrown the youth into anxiety. It is reported that states will not be able to stockpile the vaccine from May 1. Uncertainty remains over when states will be able to stockpile the vaccine directly for young people.

Many states have placed an order for the vaccine but there has been no positive response from manufacturers. The Serum Institute has informed the Rajasthan government that only the vaccine will be distributed to the Center till May 15. With this, it became clear that the states would not be able to procure the vaccine for the youth from May 1. The Serum Institute is adopting this policy with non-BJP ruling states like Kerala, Punjab, Rajasthan, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh.

The Center had yesterday said that the Kovid vaccine should be given only to those between the ages of 18 and 45 through private centers. This means that young people need to be vaccinated at a higher cost. This was in line with the guidelines issued by the Union Ministry of Health as part of the new vaccine policy from May 1. If the vaccine is to be given to 18-45 year olds at government centers, the respective state governments have to take a separate decision. People over the age of 45 can continue to receive the vaccine at private and government centers.

A tweet released by the Ministry of Health explaining how 18-45 year olds should register for vaccination also points out that vaccination is only available at private vaccination centers. In addition to this, more worrying information is coming out.
