India, Bangladesh agree to resolve border issues 'amicably'

Dhaka: Curbing cross-border crimes, human trafficking and enhancing joint patrolling had been among the points mentioned on the 54th India-Bangladesh Director General-level Border Coordination Convention in Dhaka from March 5-9.

Whereas the Indian delegation was led by Border Safety Force (BSF) Director General Nitin Agarwal, Bangladesh was led by Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).

“Both sides appreciated each other's concerns and committed to amicably settle the border issues through sustained, constructive and positive dialogue at all levels,” a BSF assertion mentioned on Saturday.

In addition they agreed to implement the convention choices “in true spirit” on the bottom throughout talks held twice yearly – as soon as in India and as soon as in Bangladesh.
