Cyclone Remal: Cyclone Remal has hit the coasts of Bangladesh and adjoining West Bengal. In accordance with the Meteorological Division, the method of landfall will proceed for the following 4 hours. In accordance with the IMD, Cyclone Remal over North Bay of Bengal will transfer northwards and cross about 130 km south-east of Sagar Island (WB), 140 km south-west of Khepupara (Bangladesh), 140 km south-east of Canning (WB), 160 km south-west of Mongla, Bangladesh. Most wind velocity of 110-120 kmph will likely be there alongside Bangladesh and adjoining West Bengal coasts until midnight in the present day.

Intense preparations are underway to cope with cyclonic storm Remal. A complete of 14 groups of the Nationwide Catastrophe Response Force (NDRF) are deployed to help in rescue and reduction operations in view of the cyclone Remal hitting West Bengal. 14 groups have been deployed in delicate areas of 9 districts (Hooghly-1, Howrah-1, South 24 Parganas-3), North 24 Parganas-2, East Medinipur-2, West Medinipur-2, Kolkata-1, Murshidabad-1, Nadia-1 of West Bengal.

Round 1.10 lakh persons are being evacuated from coastal areas together with Sundarbans and Sagar Islands to secure shelters as a part of precautionary measures by the West Bengal authorities to cope with the influence of extreme cyclone 'Remal'. 16 battalions every of the State Catastrophe Administration and Nationwide Catastrophe Response Force (NDRF) have been deployed within the coastal areas. Apart from, the state authorities has distributed round 5.40 lakh tarpaulins and ensured availability of dry ration, powdered milk and consuming water pouches in these districts to make sure preparedness for landfall.

Air and rail companies disrupted resulting from Ramal

Kolkata airport authorities have suspended flights for 21 hours from Sunday afternoon. Aside from this, Japanese and South Japanese Railways have cancelled the operation of many trains.
